In 1992, the Supreme Court finally established membership as mandatory and the bar an integrated bar after the original 1956 effort to unify was suspended in 1988. In addition to providing its members with continuing legal education (CLE) seminars (30 credits every two years is required), books, supplements, an ethics hotline, an office management assistance program, and a helpline, the State Bar of Wisconsin also provides fee arbitration, dispute resolution, information services, and law-related education to the public.
